Diane relocated to the Smoky River Region in 2001 to pursue a job opportunity with the Conseil de développement economic de l’Alberta (CDEA). Soon after her arrival, she acquired a real estate brokerage and purchased the local Alberta Registry in 2006. In 2011, she successfully sold both her businesses. Subsequently, Diane accepted a contract with the CDEA to work as a Rural Development and Entrepreneurship Specialist for the Northwest.
In June 2014, she accepted a contract with Smoky River Regional Economic Development as an Economic Development Officer. Over time, she progressed to the role of Executive Director. It was in 2017 that Diane became involved in the hemp industry through her participation in the Hemp Advantage Northern Alberta (HANA) project led by the CDEA. Recognizing the economic potential of the hemp industry, Diane is one of the co-founders of the Alberta Hemp Alliance in 2020 and continues to serve as a board member.
Diane’s endeavours in the hemp industry extend beyond her current involvement. She holds the Marketing and Sales Director role at Smoky Hemp Decortication Ltd, an innovative startup that will introduce a novel approach to the hemp decortication industry.
